Takeaways
Research is a powerful tool. Below are summaries of research that I've done as well as what research says about some common questions.

LITERATURE REVIEW
Sleep training using crying-it-out in infants under six months:
What does the research really say?
Experts strongly warn parents that sleep problems are bad and that they had better start early to prevent them from taking root. Nearly 100% of the best-selling sleep authors endorse versions of crying-it-out (extinction, Ferber) even in very young infants. What do we know about the need to start early and the effectiveness/safety of doing so? Hold onto your hat. See this info here.

ORIGINAL RESEARCH
Rates of parental burnout among parents of livewires
Parental burnout is more than just fatigue. It is depletion resulting from chronic overdrawal of emotional and physical resources. I was curious about the rates of burnout among parents of children who are intense, sensitive, persistent, etc. View the summary of results here.

ORIGINAL RESEARCH
More than just "difficult:" Are there "bright sides" to a fussy temperament?
This summarizes the results from a large parent survey on temperament. I compared the experiences of parents with children who researchers would categorize as having a "difficult temperament" to those with children who are easier to manage. View the summary of the results here.

ORIGINAL RESEARCH
Giftedness and sleep
Is there a relationship between a big brain and sleep problems in infancy. We set out to answer this question qualitatively by interviewing parents of school-age children in a gifted program to find out what these children were like during their first year. View this info here.
